This is a crisis long in the making, and it is primarily the result of mismanagement by Federal and State forestry departments. This has been exacerbated by the aggressive fire suppression over the ages, the spread of urbanization into areas where it should have been restricted, and the lack of proper maintenance of fire barriers around dwellings etc. We were discussing this issue when I was studying forestry over 40 years ago, and it was not a new issue then.

PO1 Kevin Dougherty you are absolutely correct! Forests have to be managed or they become dangerous! Living close to Ft Bragg and all their acres of training sites and jump zones, I see first hand how they manage their forests by controlled burning and necessary upkeep. Ft Bragg covers three counties here in NC and they continue to maintain their land!

Hey now, it's far easier to scream about global warming than it is to identify empirical realities. And there's no use pointing out reality to a bunch of people who are dead set on wailing about nonsense.

Just too many people on the planet. 10 people in a room you can maintain a temp, put 100 people in the same room it is almost impossible to maintain the same temp. Just writing what a lot of people think.
