One thing about Hong Kong thought, the British had it on a 99 year lease and the lease ran out and China decided not to renew it. That certainly wasn't good for Hong Kong and the loss of freedom with the current Communist rule and control. Taiwan in no way belongs to Communist China as it was the legitimate government of China in exile when the Communist Criminals seized control and took over.

China did not "take over" Hong Kong (or Macau either, for that matter), the territories were always theirs, and were returned to them as the final performance between Britain and China on their 99-year lease of the property, just as Portugal returned Macau to China in the same year.
