I was hoping that they now understand the problem with vaccinating a 70 year old shut-in while the 40 year old waitress who has contact with a hundred people a day has to wait but apparently not. Purely age based vaccine guidelines are not good enough.

SPC Cathy Goessman So our most susceptible shouldn't be vaccinated first. They are exposed to everything the long term facility worker brings in with them.

Not what I’m saying. Long term care facilities should definitely be prioritized due to the lethality of past outbreaks. But that class should include younger residents in facilities as well who face the same transmission scenario and commonly have other medical issues that also put them at increased risk over the general population. Populations particularly vulnerable to spread the disease should be prioritized just as much as people likely to die from the disease. Or we will just continue chasing our tails.

There are areas where suddenly young people became a larger percentage of the people dying. Why? Because they didn’t have access to the vaccine yet even though their jobs required them to come in contact with hundreds of people a day.
