I've never worked in prison and never been in a prison beyond picking someone up who has been released. My only suggestion would be house the general trans population together not in the men's or women's general population. Put those who claim to be male together and thud who claim to be female together. Trans people already suffer enough mental abuse for whatever they go through. Housing them with the general populations are just going to keep causing things like this to happen and possibly get someone killed. Not hating on anyone.

You are a voice of reason. For whatever reason, this post generated some pretty intense conversations. Can't speak to much direct knowledge of government run facilities except for interface moving inmates on between public and private facilities. But with us, GEO, and MTC, etc., your suggestions were followed. There is no "consensual sex" in corrections. Since PREA was passed in 2003, failure to prevent rape and "consensual sex", has been a career changer, facility killer. But, some states legislate nonsensical laws which impede a facilties' ability to enforce PREA.
