I often wonder how many of these situations could have been prevented by "situational awareness". If you're "carrying" (concealed or otherwise) you must have some sense of danger. Why aren't you responding by paying attention to your surroundings, especially when you're out and about at times when criminals are likely to take advantage of natural concealment. I see women jogging in parks and roadside paths, past bushes and other opportunities for concealment, while plugged into their favorite music. Can't they be alone with their own thoughts? Can't they be paying attention to the environment? Are they daring criminals to try so they can shoot them?
