(Article 07 16 21) As the widespread concern among Americans concerning voter fraud continues, including voting machines being accessed remotely, the Federal Election Commission has decided not to ban election machines from being connected to internet.
This decision came after voting machine industry officials had private meetings with federal regulators. The previous rules, they determined, put an undue burden on voting machine manufacturers and significantly increased their expenses.

members that makes up the Commission ?

But it costs WAY more to send a tech to every voting site for updates. Or even to every state where machines are centralized.
The cost ain't in the manufacture, its in the upkeep.
I still think it is worth the cost (or we just keep it low tech and cheap and use good ol' fashioned paper).
But the cost argument is at least VALID even if not persuasive.
