Apparently, he did not hear or listen to Secretary of Defense Austin or General Milley. This is the new boogeyman. Critical Race Theory is more than 40 years old. It was a theory that dealt with the inherent racism that existed in American law. How would these individuals propose to teach American History without discussing laws that were enacted prior to the Civil War and immediately after that denied the rights to Blacks? Those laws were inherently racist. It was not until 1965 that laws were enacted to defend those who were denied their right to vote. American slavery was unique in that slaves and former slaves were distinctly treated differently because of race.

I do not watch TV so have no idea what Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc. states. Unfortunately because you disagree with what CRT has become does not make you position true. While WaPo, NYT and probably much of TV are trying to minimize the current state of CRT in fact it has morphed into a racist philosophy that is bent on destroying the nation. You may not like the authors who are not part of the liberal academia majority and are therefore attacked. Look for alternate views not just a liberal bubble, try reading Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute who is also attacked by liberals. Capt I believe that looking at history through a lense that pre-determines all US actions and occurrences were due to racism is silly and lazy. By the way thank you for mentioning the hoax grievance affair. They wrote hoax grievance papers on purpose to see if they would be published. Of 20 grievance papers 7 rejected, 7 published (one of which was a feminist rewrite of Mein Kampf) to glowing reviews, 6 were under review when the hoax was revealed. Look up Grievance Studies Affair in Wikipedia. This was a brilliant expose of the shoddy standards in the field of grievance studies. Capt Gregory Prickett

Never said you were liberal, stated that liberal publications are pushing “nothing to see with CRT”. It is unfortunate you are taking offense and refuse to look outside an already determined bubble.Capt Gregory Prickett

Capt Gregory Prickett - And if you read the actual works written by the various persons that "Cynical Theories" authors attack, a lot of times the "Cynical Theories" authors made up entire meanings/passages, etc. out of the air, deliberately misstate what the actual works said and/or deliberately ignore the meaning of phrases as written by the original authors. It is disingenuous at best, complete bs at the least. In fact, it would have earned an "F" from my professors if I wrote that type of diatribe.
I read "Cynical Theories" and pulled up the various papers they referred to. (Yes, I know that I should ignore the actual writings authors cite in their main body or footnotes, but silly me that's part of briefing.) I read the papers cited and then read their critiques of the papers, articles, etc. It was an exercise in futility trying to figure out how the "Cynical Theories" authors came to the majority of their conclusions based on their "analysis" of CRT writings.
This is an excellent review written by a PhD philosophy student. I hadn't read his review until recently but I found myself agreeing with it.

The Cynical Theorists Behind Cynical Theories
Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay’s book mistakenly lumps a number of philosophers into the “postmodernist” camp.

He who refuses to listen to and study history is doomed to repeat it. I've often accused the GOP of trying to bring us back to the 1930s but apparently it's really the 1830s. You can't study ancient history without seeing the impact of race and the resulting slavery on the development of civilization. How on earth does the GOP think knowledgeable American citizens can study our history without considering the impact of race on it? One possible explanation is that their cult leader has referred to loving uneducated voters in the past.

Yeah I guess you would think that. Nice to make up your mind without facts, too hard I guesdCapt Gregory Prickett

Must be nice to be a legend in your own mind. Obviously the majority of TX voters are wrong, only you are wise and know anything, I am sure Beto and you are buds. You should run for office and let people know how wonderful you are. With your power, omniscience, and perfection I am sure you would be elected. After all being without fault must be hard. I know you must be burdened with your abilities. Fools really do think they are never wrong and know everything, good luck with your unicorn hunts. Too bad you were not able to stick it out over time.Capt Gregory Prickett

I have not commented on RP for a LONG time (about a year or more I think). This subject has tempted me out of "exile"... and so, here it goes. There's an old saying, "It's not what you say. it's how you say it." If we are asking whether or not racism played a part in our nation's past, and if we're calling an impartial study of those facts, "Critical Race Theory"... then frankly, that was being taught way back in the late 1980s when I was in elementary school. We fought an entire Civil War over the question, so it goes without saying that there are far-reaching implications and consequences to be addressed. However, if we're going to label CRT as the wider-ranging philosophy that the net result of these past wrongs is an imbalanced present requiring specific and unilateral actions to correct moving into the future... my personal view is that such patterns have disturbing parallels and present needless and perhaps counterproductive factors into society. I'm certain many proponents of CRT do not see it so divisively... but replace race with class, and it's difficult to distance CRT from certain forms of propaganda used in the past by certain other movements. The real question surrounding CRT is what does it ultimately compel students (or officer candidates) to DO about racism? Does it ask them to remember how easily mankind accepted the enslavement of others? Does it imbue them with a sense of understanding for the challenges overcome by those of the past? If so, I don't see any issue with these concepts; frankly, they were taught to me over two decades ago. However, if CRT ultimately encourages Americans to start measuring relative ability and opportunity based on skin color... I do not see how that does not eventually translate to limiting the opportunities of some to afford more opportunities to others.

Very well stated and thought out. Liberal thought used to be based upon looking at all sides with an open mind. CRT ( Critical Race Theory) today condemns one race, assumes all other races are incapable of progress unless western society is destroyed. CRT rejects any objective truth from science and replaces it with subjective experience from a small group that is then imposed on all. You know like Communism and Fascism. “Don’t bother me with facts, I already made up my mind.”

Stated far better than I did LCDR Joshua Gillespie! I remember as an MP at Walter Reed, our MP Detachment (236h) had about 8 or 10 blacks. We all got along marvelously, despite a Civil Service unsanctioned group called, "U-BAD," (United Blacks Against Discrimination). Considering how 90% (it seemed) of Civil Service personnel were black, such an organization seemed silly. Somewhere along the way, someone decided the MP's should get "Race Relations" training. Initially, I thought it would give us the means to help command relate to those blacks who were unhappy, although I always got along with everyone, even though as a young MP, I was a bit too strict in traffic enforcement. (Young & dumb with a lot to learn).
After the "training," everything changed in the Detachment - it was as iff we were all teleported somewhere and no one trusted anyone, racially speaking. It boggled my mind - a seemingly good idea, COMPLETELY backfired! It simply presented problems that were not there. I never once heard the "n" word until after, and then, ONLY by fellow MP's who were black. So strange how everything changed. One of them referred to the TMP Motor Sgt with the "n" word, and I agreed with him. (The guy was a scoundrel - enjoyed hassling us over vehicles.) Just by agreeing with what he said, not repeating it, I was labeled a racist by him and his companion.
