Yeah, its probably going to get ugly over there. Maybe someday our leaders will realize that we can't force our ways of life on other nations. And I wonder how Afghanastan Vets feel about this. We cannot keep starting wars with no goal. 20 years?

Our goal was to get Bin Laden and then we hung around believing them they wanted our way of life. I am sure all the Presidents of Afghanistan wanted our life but those at the bottom did not. I was there in 2006 and spent a lot of time taking care of and working with locals. To them our cause was a worthy cause but democracy takes a lot of work and so many there preferred treating their women like shit, man love Thursday, and opium. I think this place is very different than Vietnam and unlike Vietnam vets, we will not see a safe Afghanistan I can return as a tourist. The Vietnamese were willing to fight and die for their independence, Afghans not so much.

I have always supported the concept of America trying to spread the concept of democracy around the world. However, we cannot do that by force.
Bush II got us into Afghanistan with no end plan (piss poor move) and no POTUS has had the political courage to get us out until now.
I feel sorry for the Afghan people, but if they do not have the will to fight, there is nothing more we can do. Time to come home.

Thank you President Biden!

How exactly did we spread democracy by force in Afghanistan?

I think I made a poor assumption. I thought after 20 years the Afghan military would duke it out and fight. Let's see what happens.

I absolutely had zero faith in the Afghan military and knew this is what would happen as soon as we started leaving.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Surrendering means they have no passion to fight. They have no soul, at least none we can see now.
