Americans have been making their own guns since before the American Revolution. If "homemade" guns were a problem, we would have known it two centuries ago.

I certainly hope it grandfathered. Plus I've designed a cannon that used compressed air and a discarding sabot ammo round. (no way that meets the term "firearm".)
