I've had those read to me at least twice for minor infractions when the cops picked me up for youthful stupidity, fortunantly both times they were misdemeanors Lt Col Charlie Brown

I have read both the Miranda rights to hundreds of people as well as to Military people their rights under Article 31 of the UCMJ.

Lt Col Charlie Brown I wonder what they would really do if someone said they didn't understand them and kept insisting they didn't!

Interesting question. I am sure there is someone here on RP who can shed light on that.

As an M.P we would go over each of the rights and explain them individually. If the individual continued to say they did not understand we would call for a supervisor who would do the same thing. If they continued to refuse or say they did not understand they were placed in a holding cell and legal authorities were called. It is or was the same in civilian world. I have had that happen more than once. When it is entered into evidence at trial it has been my experience judges are not happy with the defendants. Or officers if they refuse to comply with the guidelines for questioning.
