China has definitely been surveilling Taiwan's airfields and military capacities for some time now.

That is just a tactic. The most important question is if China is willing to risk a war with Taiwan. I think they will attack Taiwan if they think the big boys won't help defend the small island country.

Sadly the pogroms and re-education centers feared by the West following Hong Kong reverting back to Chinese control never happened. China has been bitten by the capitalism bug. Consider that we are all talking to each other on Chinese made devices…
Consider also that debt control only works occasionally. For example, Michael Jackson owning the rights to the Beatles songs only scores a profit when someone wants to use one. If no one asks…etc.
So before the first soldier sets foot on Taiwanese soil, China’s money is going to take a nose dive. We can’t surmise that this event will go unnoticed.
From a numerical point of view, China already has the numbers many times over to cross the Strait. They don’t need an exercise or parade to prove it. The killer question then becomes - “how badly do they want it?” Badly enough to ruin their economy?
The laughable problem with American boycott logic in Iran is that no one cared. In China’s case, the USA is her major market. So even if the world was to ignore an American boycott order, other nation business is not enough for China.
So for now, I’m gonna sit back and watch.
