Milky Way's galactic center in amazing new panorama from Chandra!!!
There are times when NASA and organizations put together something for the scientific community as well as colleges and universities, high schools and other educational institutions that is simply awesome. Well, this video and subject matter, is just that... Using the Chandra X-ray Observatory, previously known as the Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility, which is a Flagship-class space telescope launched aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-93 by NASA on July 23, 1999, takes magnificent X-Ray images of key targets in the universe and one of them is the Galactic Center of our Milky Way Galaxy, of which, our solar system, including Planet Earth is a part.
The images shown by NASA and the Chandra Observatory use what is known as the Ken Burns effect...which 'Wikipedia' states "is a type of panning and zooming effect used in film and video production from still imagery. The name derives from extensive use of the technique by American documentarian Ken Burns. The technique, previously known as "animatics", predates his use of it, but his name has become associated with the effect in much the same way as Alfred Hitchcock is associated with the dolly zoom.
The feature enables a widely used technique of embedding still photographs in motion pictures, displayed with slow zooming and panning effects, and fading transitions between frames." Wikipedia

It is amazing, Lt Col Charlie Brown! WIthout the X-Ray telescope we would never see any of this... Same holds true for the ultraviolet telescopes, which sees everything within the Ultraviolet spectrum...
