I am going on a tangent. I was fortunate that I was able to serve in Army Aviation and Armor. It showed me the tactical side and what it entails to be a combat arms officer. It allowed me to see soldiers and NCOs sacrificing without bitching. They knew the dirty tasks were just part of their profession. I think that is where I found empathy and compassion.

When I transfered to Finance I knew the feeling of a combat arms soldier asking organizations for help. It pissed me off to no end when soldiers looked at me like I was just increasing their workload. I could see it in how they looked at me. Those guilty soldiers or civilians were too f@cking stupid to know they existed to help soldiers like me. I told my Finance unit that we will provide world class support technically and personally. Make everyone feel special because they are. I am proud to say we accomplished that mission. Of course I had to thank and reward them in a world class manner which I think I accomplished. If I had to point out my the important aspect of my leadership, it would be that I cared about the soldiers and NCOs; and I knew how to show it. I had a blessed career.
