The pandemic is real -- Thankfully, I'm blessed to live in a country where the leaders got in front of it. Hopefully, the vaccines will quickly propagate around the world and mitigate more misery

India was producing vaccines and would have had enough to vaccinate the entire Country, but the political leaders representing India exported vaccine in bulk to allied nations across the globe. These politicians didn't prepare India for the onslaught of the second wave, where the virus made a two prong assault; (1) the Double Mutant mutation and; (2) the B.1.617 variant. With exports, there was a shortage of vaccines. The Serum Institute has made it clear that increase in the supply of vaccines will take longer than three months. Add to this was the sudden shortage of oxygen and hospital beds. The cases were increasing and there was no vaccine, oxygen or beds.
During this same time, the national leadership was out east playing politics and businessmen had become black marketeers of oxygen concentrators and Ramdesvir vaccine in India. Crimes rose sharply with oxygen costing $1,285 per cylinder and oxygen concentrators were sold for $857 each. Although some of these crooks were eventually caught, the damage had been done.
Hearing about the situation in India, many allies, to include the U.S., the UK, Germany, Malaysia and the UAE came to rescue India. Oxygen plants were setup in government hospitals and new Covid centers were inaugurated across the Country thus, increasing bed space for the critical cases. The DRDO introduced it's own oxygen production plants under the PM Cares Fund. Many learned people are questioning the Gov't as to whether the PM Funds could have been used earlier to save lives.
In the midst of this crisis, a new epidemic has arisen called the Black Fungus disease. There are 150+ cases in the National Capital Region alone.

Sad but there are signs of hope. I read a report that doctors, in India, have started prescribing those two drugs touted by Mr. Trump and the number of new cases seem to be slowing.
