According to the Inter-American Development Bank, 14 of the 15 most tourism-dependent nations in the world are in the Caribbean, with Aruba, Antigua and Barbuda, and the Bahamas in the top three spots. Many Caribbean islands have reopened—some, like Barbados and Bermuda have even created new extended-stay visas to draw in remote workers—while others are slower to welcome back travelers amid the ongoing pandemic. In some cases, like St. Barths, the island initially reopened last year but has since closed its borders again.
