Why? Would we expect to be held accountable when our hackers do the same thing abroad?

SFC Michael Hasbun - Someones spy is a hero. To others well — what else can be said. For me whose lived for over 70 years in this mix I find this information technology we have access to morality becomes relative? For me this is dangerous to the glue that keep our society together. This glue is part of the Rule of Law. Destroy this and we live in a Mad Max world of chaos.

if there is nothing to hide, why even try to negotiate with these terrorists???? that being said, it's not like they are negotiating for someone who is being held hostage in a bank robbery. not going to solve the problem with a pizza or throwing money at it. if you pay them once, you can expect to pay them over and over

I agree that we should not pay them, but those affected have a very legitimate concerns as the hackers are releasing personal information from their background checks and other PII which could affect their lives.
