Solar and wind generated electricity cannot exist using current technologies without massive subsidies. Look at the ads for "free" home solar installations and rebates, and you'll only be seeing the tip of the iceberg. Investors looking at prospectus for solar and wind farms can see that there is no profit without massive federal subsidies. In other words, these are not sustainable. Before fleeing California, I was bemused by calls to eliminate all gas powered cars. How do they propose to supply electricity to charge all the battery powered cars that will be needed when that happens when they can't keep the lights on in California? And let's not even mention the looming environmental catastrophy when all those Tesla and other electric car batteries need to be replaced. Now finish the pipelines and secure them from terrorists and hackers until we can develop more rational, economical, feasible alternate energy resources. Tidal power anyone?

MSgt Steve Sweeney - Say what? What argument did I make that was like any argument opposed to steam engines? When did anyone argue against steam engines? What the hell?

MSgt Steve Sweeney - You do realize that The Mill on the Floss was fiction, don't you?

SSG (Join to see) When Lake Mead, Hoover/Boulder Dam’s water source has water available, a few of their water turbines that are on standby - actually turning at 180 RPM, driven by a small amount of current without using any water. Upon a call from Los Angeles wanting more Kilowatts, those ‘dry’ turbines can be ‘wetted’ by the opening of a few valves and electricity can be going to LA in less than 1 minute. @SP5 Jim Curry - Oops, has he also departed RP?

We need to invest highly in our electrical grids to modernize them. We also need to invest in more robust charging networks for eletric cars. We need to invest in other forms of energy as well. Ransom wire attacks will keep happening.

Col Joseph Lenertz thank you for agreeing. While I may not be a big approver of certain green energy sources they need to be invested in. I favor nuclear fossil.

Yes Col Joseph Lenertz ! What General Norman Schwarzkopf used to call Bovine Scatology. We need a provision to require a "Truth in Legislation" maybe modeled on Truth-in-Lending. Couple that with another provision that requires all truly controversial bills to be confined narrowly to the advertised purpose. The same applies to the title of the act.
