The French have almost always been a very ineffective fighting force.
Napoleon, after all, was Corsican and only about half of his Armies were French.

Wdll it can be argued that except for the undeground they were very ineffective during WWII.

Good morning. All kinds of theories are postulated about the battle but for me it was a number of factors that led to the defeat of the French. But here is one I hadn't heard of until now, DRUGS. The opium used by France to finance special operations in other areas, notably North Africa. Our CIA, with the nod of congress, did, and probably still does, finance clandestine operations for this nation.
