This is a good thing. I'm sure there will be those that moan, groan, and hyperbolize.

Agreed...it makes perfect operational sense and allows females to have some individuality off duty. I have talked with some of our Airmen where I work and they say it relieves headaches, headgear fits better, and same for combat gear and flight helmets...they get a complete prefect fit now versus having to make a helmet "work". I agree that there are gonna be some that moan, groan, and hyperbolize...but the decision has been made.

Of course, those who feel left out because this doesn't apply for them, or bitch about not having beards, even though there's a form to submit to HQDA that not enough male soldiers submitted.

Cool. I can't tell you how aggravating hearing the horror stories from female Soldiers about all the headaches the hair buns were causing.
This is an easy, common sense fix that takes care of Soldiers, and costs the Army nothing to implement.

I think we should just stop wearing headgear all together if this happens. This picture isn't a good look. We would all survive just fine without wearing any headgear at all.

Oh... Okay I understand what you're saying. I don't agree but I understand. I absolutely believe a uniform needs headgear(kinda wish the beret was put back for garrison ware). I think this was needed even before lipstick or nail polish to be honest. Thanks for the discussion CSM.

Long hair on a soldier can be used against them if ever faced with H2H combat. For the aviation or ground vehicle side, it's a liability if it's caught in moving parts. Imagine a pony tail being caught in an engine belt or drive shaft. What if a pony tail is wet while working on or near an electrical panel in a tight space and the hair is grounded against a metal component?

Cpl (Join to see) - Great point.
I still keep my hair short b/c this world isn't as 'nice and fair' and is far more dangerous than people think. The Army standards have dropped and certain 'people' are now in it making the Army weaker than it should be.

An interesting question. Personally, I didn't like the black beret, but liked the baseball cap style headgear. Not wearing some noggin cover just seems wrong.
