I looked at your profile because I lost track of your story. Not being Nosy, Chip! Nothing wrong with the wife running in place of her deceased husband. Mary Bono took the place of Sonny Bono after a special election. She helped my father because the federal government was auditing him saying that his service-connected disability in the sheriff's department was taxable. He was getting nowhere with the Internal revenue service. He had the regulation in hand and she pushed forward and told the internal revenue service to STFU. It worked. My mother's Estate still receives this Tax-free pension and pays for Her health care.
