I prefer supreme high commander of Mars, holder of the chalice of bubbling mud, 3rd meragon to the fitzblazet. Please address me thusly or I will ensure you are fired!
Self important people make me sick. I call Corpsmen, PAs, Doctors (MDs & Dentists) "doc". All the other educational PhDs I call "prof". You don't like it? Tough! I am not here to bend to the whim of every self-absorbed asshole.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - Condescending to the end I see.
If a person is going to be fired for not using, or refusing to use, a title - what is next? Since a lot, and I mean A LOT, of people could not use 2 words together for 4 years+, should they all be fired? Hey! You! Yes you! His NAME IS **PRESIDENT** TRUMP. You are fired! (But he is not *my* president!)
If the corporate policy is to always use titles then there is a case for firing this guy. If it was not covered in policy - tough shit. Fire him anyways. Oh so very one sided. You've stepped way beyond professionalism and into the land of kindergarten tantrums.
Please sum up all the damage that was done to further educate this knuckle dragging rock. I will attempt to do the same:
* Financial - nope
* Job standing - nope
* Family - no damage here
* Spiritual - if there was this is a very weak spiritual person
* Mental - bingo - a mental sanctum was crumbled by this awful attack. Time to throw a tantrum and get somebody fired so all of the above become truly damaging for the evil oppressor.
By the way. I've never seen a Marine DI call any recruit or officer candidate "doctor". Should they all be fired? I've never seen a squad leader, platoon leader, platoon officer, company officer call any Marine "doctor". Should they all be fired? I've never witnessed any officer who got his/her PhD called Col Doctor Smith or General Doctor Smith. Damn - time to fire the entire military complex.
So far you have not changed my mind.

I'm assuming from the bad grammar you meant to say "Too bad she could NOT teach you anything." You've gone from patronizing to condescending to out right assholery!

MSgt Steve Sweeney - Apology accepted.
As far as willful ignorance - no, I do not agree. I am not an ignorant man. Far from it. Do our opinions and paradigms match? Nope. Not on this matter. Does it make me wrong? Not anymore "wrong" than you are for your opinion.
I am a father, a grand-father, a husband, son, grandson, IT guy, business owner, Marine, skydiver, skier and instructor, scuba diver, agnostic, financially conservative, socially progressive, constitutionalist, free enterprise believer, mensa member, patriot, independent, American man. So, what do you call me? Dad? Grandpa? Hubby man? Computer Jock? Sir?
Here's what I answer to: Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Devil Dog, Leather Neck, Jarhead, Keith, Barrows, Hey, Uhmn - you, and a multitude of other names/words/phrases. I've picked up several nicknames over the years attending sci-fi cons, playing in the SCA, and other activities.
There is an adage I use quite often: I don't care how much you know until I know how much you care.
What pissed me off about the article is the blatant social justice meted out for breaking a simple rule of *curtesy*. If you are OK with a man's life and family being ruined over a couple of words then you have to live with that. I am NOT ok with punishment that far exceeds the "perceived crime".
