Advocates renew push to end the military’s remarriage penalty for spouses of fallen troops

I don't understand why they would want to punish the spouses for trying to make a new life.

It is heartless rule with heartless repercussions. They need the objective of taking care if widows. Not to punish them. A widow has lost enough. To compel her to not remarry due the benefits is cruel and heartless. The widow gets benefits because her spouse died. Getting remarried does not deny her spouse died and she is a gold star widow. For petes sake someone fix this travesty. The gold star widows have lost enough. Let’s stop a process that may continue to hurt widows.
