Redoing a rifle, but don't want to spend a lot of extra cash on having it Blued or other custom coating? Aluma-Hyde can get you buy on the cheap. A friend tags his wrenches int his to help them from walking away. I like this stuff. Caution: read the directions, read the directions, read the directions. You have to have a clean surface, and shake that can forever before using it.

I have used many different finishes as a starting gunsmith. Alumahyde is okay for some applications but not all. The most important considerations to take into account are preparation work and material. The benefit of spray ons is they take little prep and work on lots of materials.
