This has been covered before.
While holding political office, statements made in their capacity as an elected official are not chargeable under the UCMJ under Article 88.
The directives, restrictions and prohibitions for servicemembers holding elected positions are outlined in DoD Directive 1344.10.

SFC you are wasting your time trying to explain things to Trump supporters. They don't care about facts. If it doesn't come from their messiahs mouth it won't be believed. They have lost all touch with reality.

SGT (Join to see) - I'm excluding the article, because if he said it on political time and he's not subject to be punished fine, no hard feelings. I think that currently serving members of guard/reserve should not be able to hold any political office to avoid any possible controversy or turbulence like this. We serve the people of the US and the Constitution in our own way as service members.
Your statement is very harsh, and sows division. Yes there are extremists on the far left and far right that won't listen to reason, very true. But to infer all Trump supporters "have lost all touch with reality," is again not doing any good for the country. We need to bind up the wounds, heal, and come together as Americans, not as associates of a certain political ideology.
Lastly, to say Trump is a "messiah" is a sacrilegious statement. Most Trump supporters don't see him that way. I can't speak for everyone but as a Catholic the only Messiah I have is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Vengeance always leads to more vengeance so one side, whichever side it may be, left or right has to be the bigger person and stop the chain of vengeance so we can unite our country again.

Lol. Seriously? This never happens and elected officials who also serve in the military have always talked about the sitting POTUS. Sen Graham said plenty of negative things about President Obama and he didn't leave the military until 2015. I'm sure we could go back and find examples from every administration that had military members serving in Congress.

If they don't ignore it, i wonder how the local left, or never-Trumpers would respond.
