If the uptick in division was generated from afar, they are surely toasting their success. Any domestic actors have to be more discreet to preserve the concept of them being "friendlies". It's a profit center and involves media, but they measure their return on investment by the level of division vice revenue. Likely because bad actors fear a near total population united, educated, and aware of the threat.

I think the violence will get worse. Trump is bitching about the election, telling supporters to fight for what is right, congratulating rioters, and the rioters think they are George Washington fighting against tyranny and hence a revolution is justified.
The generals will look at the last point of departure from the facts. Federal and the Supreme courts have spoken on the constitutionality of Biden’s victory. That is part of the checks and balances that Trump and his supporters refuse to recognize. The generals took an oath of office that included the wording that they will support and defend the constitution of the US against all enemies foreign and domestic. Trump is the domestic enemy, so the generals will not support Trump. When officers wears 4 stars they are expected to be statesmen and keeper of our nations values.
