Constitutional Republic or Democracy? Founders Knew the Difference

As do many of us....the recent crop of college and HS students, not so much

Once again: A republic is a form of democracy.

From Merriam Webster:
Definition of democracy
1a: government by the people
b: a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections

While not all democracies are republics, all republics are democracies, i.e, b above.

One should also note our Founders, many who owned slaves, gave the vote of white, male, land owners only.
Our Constitution is designed to change with the times, as our nation must.

I have know the difference for years. I am always correcting people that say our democracy is being ruined. I unload on them with both barrels at that point about the differences. It is our school system that has let us down.
