Sorry, I lost my entire response, Shavonde and I have to leave for an appointment... I am going to try this again... Shavonde...
Thank you for sharing this great Post About the Disabled American Veterans (DAV)... I am a DAV Chapter Commander of DAV Chapter 90, Norwood, MA and helping other Veterans is what we do... I have approximately 600 members on our roles, but we are lucky if we can get 10 to 12 to attend meetings due mostly to the Covid-19 Pandemic... A month or so ago, one of our members passed away, a fine fine Korean War Veteran by the name of Joe Barca who was always willing to volunteer and help out during our fund raisers... Today I helped his wife with a few things and offered our services if there were any elements of working with the VA to help her understand and get the benefits she is due as a Veterans spouse...
There is always someone that needs help and we will always do what we can to help where needed... Many of my members volunteer to drive DAV SUVs to pick up and take disabled veterans to their hospital appointments and then bring them home... We are held together by a thread during this Pandemic, but we are all pulling our share... I have two Chapter Service Officers and one National Service Officer in my Chapter and the NSO is collocated with the VA in their Boston Offices...
I urge any veteran out there to seek DAV assistance with any claims you believe you are qualified for... You may go to http://www.DAV.org select the pull down menu under "Membership" and you can search for a chapter near you...
I recommend that you ask to speak with either a CAO (Chapter Service Officer) or an NSO (National Service Officer) about your claim... They will work with you to do what needs to be done... For those who do not understand the VA Claims system, Veterans should have a knowledgeable guide...and OUR Services do not cost a Veteran anything...
To all our Veterans, Thank you for your service to our Country!!!
Kerry F. Harkins,
Commander

Thank you my friend SSG Shavonde Chase for honoring Disabled American Veterans [DAV] which i have supported for many years. Among other things DAV provides transportation to and from VAMC appointments free of charge. I have seen them many times at the VAMC I use Martinsburg, WV VAMC
