You refer to national politics, but it is already happening at the state level. Connecticut already issued fines to people refusing to comply with COVID-19 restrictions

I can see this happening here. And there is not much evidence that it works. And it tanks the economy and puts people at risk of suicide and other diseases

COVID is a fucking joke and the fear/paranoia surrounding it should a bigger public safety concern than the virus itself. To put it in perspective; there's been 1.23M deaths attributed to it. Even if ALL of them were in the U.S. that's roughly 0.4% of the population. That percentage gets even smaller when you use the global population yet we've decided that shutting down the whole goddamn world for 4-8 months was the best course of action?
Get the fuck right on out of here with that.
