On November 10th the USMC became a reality, it’s funny when I was a senior in High School and the recruiter told me the USMC was the oldest branch and as a 17 year old I bought it lol , how naive, kind of hard to have a Marine Corps without a Navy

Just a little history SSG Furgerson the USMC is considered older because in the early 70's the Naval Service was moved under the Secretary of Transportation.

Did you know that the Dept of the Navy almost disbanded the Marines before WWII? The Marines Corps survived because they countered they will conduct amphibious operations.

I believe in the very late 1700s the US had a budget problem in regards to the building a navy. They focused on quality of the ships. They built the USS Constitution and believe her hull was almost a foot thick. She was dubbed Old Ironsides because the British cannonballs bounced off her hull.
