Harley-Davidson to exit world's biggest bike market

Even here the big cruisers from any manufacturer is facing uphill battles. The younger generation that are coming into the age where they have discretionary income aren't looking at cruisers and there just isn't the interest overall in Motorcycles compared to my generation. The more reactive Japanese companies are focused on smaller bikes with better performance, look at the series of sub 500 cc bikes that have been introduced over the past five years. Nor is there the stigma regarding riding scooters and I see more and more 125 cc plus scooters on the road these days, driven by the fact that not many under 30 know what a clutch is for.

I would not want to ride a Fat Boy in the traffic I've seen in clips of India.

I honestly question if India is a good market for them. They don't build anything two stroke, everything they build costs more than their competition over there, so how many units would they really sell. Yes maybe the Chinese HD would sell, but who the hell want the Chinese HD when they start to break down? They really need to look at some other areas than worrying about selling in India.
