Interesting side bar, the EWO on my last B-52 deployment to Vietnam was a civil engineer who worked on the design team for the academy as a 1st Lt. He was a LTC who got brought back to flying to get the flight hours he needed. He had an interesting story on how they delayed putting in most of the sidewalks until after the cadets were there and they could see the paths that cadets took to get around the campus.

That I didn't know but it makes so much sense it seems something a lot of civil engineers could learn from. I have visited the Air Force Academy and do like the way everything is laid out there. I was never stationed at the USAFA although I was assigned to Lowry AFB, CO in 1970-71 and visited a friend of mine that was in His Senior year at the Academy in that time frame. He and I were Cadets together in Civil Air Patrol the USAF Auxiliary when We were both a little younger.
