I think we honestly put the chicken before the egg here. Cities with social-economic issues tend to elect Democrats, not that the Democrats generate social-economic problems. Boston has been Democrat led forever and is conspicuously absent from the list. So is New York, although it has been politically more nuanced.
What is a problem in my opinion is that Democrat policies tend to perpetuate problems that are already present, and generationally produces an underclass that they count on as solidly their voters. This produces a momentum to not really solve problems, but rather to "talk" about them instead, blaming any lack of progress on something else - corporate interests, state government, the wealthy... anybody but them.
This perpetuates a lack of accountability that is in stark relief during current events. When faced with problems that these leaders have responsibility for, they wilt and sputter and don't know what to do.
Mayor Frey in Minneapolis is one of the worst of these. We all knew that he was a lip-service, "new liberal" that didn't walk the walk as soon as he came on the scene. What we didn't know is that he would completely assume a fetal position during the riots. He watched his city (and mine) burn for three nights before ANYTHING was done. Now he blames all sorts of things for his impotence, from the police union to not having equipment (WHAT?!), to outside agitators to Republicans.

It is high time to wholesale fire all these lifer city leaders with their crappy policies, self-enriching kickbacks, and lack of solutions.

well these cities are run by voters from those cities.... Those cities want these people and at the end of the day they get what they deserve
