1stSgt Nelson Kerr - I'm sure the u.s. is going to cut back. A lot of what Donald Trump wants to do doesn't actually happen because he is not the Congressional approval. There may be some compromise. My only beef is in the taxation period but don't be like Ontario that went all wind power and got rid of its coal-fired plant and overproduced its electrical grid for the people that weren't there to buy from it and the Liberals in Ontario have the most expensive electricity in Canada. This was from fraud waste and abuse and the governor of that province of Ontario admits to pay to play basically she gets money like Hillary Clinton did or does. So basically it was functional corruption period that's another story.

The leftists, chicken little, the sky is falling routine has been going on for decades. I recall being made to me afraid of a coming ice age when I was a kid. Now I will burn in a global brush fire or drown in rising water.

SGT Eric Knutson - Yes the fur business failed as a govt entity and led to private ventures and inspired innovation. That's what I'm getting at. Much of our government agencies run on business models while maintaining a government identity but NASA wasn't run like a private business and it was government intervention that has led to many science and technological innovations by creating demand, not the other way around. The Post Office is in decline because of technology not because it's ran by the government. Just like the telegraph companies, land line phone companies, and AM radio stations. AMTRAK in decline because of faster modes of travel not because it's ran by the government; if government invested in cross country light rails or private companies should an interest in expanding light rail technology we can have a meaningful discussion. Mega Corps are killing small business only because they lobby politicians at every level of government to protect regulations or deregulate that allows them to squash small competition; it's not just D.C. politics.

MAJ James Woods - Yes, but this govt agency is different? Not bloody likely. We could become embroiled in a debate over what might have happened had NASA "managed" the Moon program better, more business-like, but that is an exercise in futility. No one can ever know what lies down the path not taken. However, history does warn us that it most likely would/could have been handled better. Remember the early days when the political decision to go with the Navy's Vanguard rocket failed repeatedly. That's just one misstep. And you ignored the other examples I cited. I could have cited countless others. I'll just jump to the bottom line here to save us both a lot of time (and I don't think there's any cause for me to continue beyond this last statement). I stand by the Constitution and the very limited form of government that it blueprints. Every time we've wandered outside the lines of that blueprint, We the People have suffered. From fur trading to healthcare and a myriad of bad choices in between.

CPT Jack Durish - I didn't ignore the other examples. I gave my informed opinion in regards to fur trading and railroads. It was you who brought up NASA in which I merely challenged yours and SGT Knutson's assertion of waste. Noticed you ignored my defense industry reference when it comes to wasting billions in taxpayers $. I stand by the Constitution that is a foundation for our governments to build on as our culture changes; thus, reason why we have 25 amendments and not just the Preamble and Bill of Rights. We the People have indeed suffered, some more than others which is why we now have 25 amendments. I'm an advocate for continuing to build on our democracy as our society evolves in culture and technology. As I stated before, we saw how challenging it was for American society to interpret "All men are created equal" from the Declaration of Independence the last 240+ years.

MAJ James Woods - Sorry, your reference to the defense industry slipped my attention. Not all amendments are good. We've repealed one very bad social experiment and should repeal another (the 17th). However, I will fight tooth and nail against all attempts to build a democracy. No, don't want any parts of mob rule, thank you very much. Imagine if the majority declared that we should reinstate slavery. Would that be right? Would you support it even though a majority approved it? No, I don't think so.
