Those human beings count, but this is aimed at not paying for sex re-assignment procedures. If this was about firing transgender people, or assaulting them, or shunning them, I’d be with you.

No - this is just the first salvo in taking away the rights of ALL oppressed minorities in this country.

Hitler came for the Jews, the queer people, the disabled people (I'm a disabled trans Jew - you do the math) and the Roma (gypsies) (which I'm not). Trump's grandfather, who entered the US illegally, was a Nazi. Trump has had three wives, including Melania, who entered the country illegally, yet, he has no problem with taking away the rights of others.

He is, as we say in Jewish tradition, Amalek, and his memory needs to be erased from history...

I hear what both of you are saying. However, I do not believe that healthcare is a human right. I certainly don’t believe that every person should get every type of treatment that has been developed that applies to them at the expense of other citizens. If you were talking about free speech, or the right to self defense, or due process, etc, I would agree that the slippery slope applies. In this case, you’d first have to persuade me that healthcare is a human right, then that the reasonable limits on what our society can be required to provide includes gender reassignment treatment in order to get me to truly agree to your conclusion that we are on the slippery slope.

Yeah - we are all very much up in arms about this right now. We don't know what the exact implications of this will be, and in many states there are state laws that provide protection. but for those of us who live in regressive states (The South), Midwest and Bread Basket, it's going to be rough...
