I never carried fragmentation grenades. The scared the crap out of me. The ones described in the article sound much safer.

I actually ‘qualified’ with a fragmentation grenade at Ft Jackson in 1984...Never pulled the pin with my teeth and I learned quickly to ‘drop’ the pin and THROW the grenade! A concept at least one female trainee failed to master!
