I have said this elsewhere and will repeat it here.
By all means, add your voice to the ones protesting injustice. I am right there with you.
But when stuff goes sideways, get away. Do not get caught up in trying to push or harass riot police. Do not hang around when arson or rock throwing or looting breaks out. If you are around them, you are with them, and you provide cover for the worst actors to hide among. Don't be that guy.

I was proud to see my fellow Minneapolitans banding together to deny the mob access to our neighborhoods as they sought ways to circumvent police cordons last night. It is not a coincidence that incidents were fewer and less intense.
Maybe cooler heads will prevail now. And for all of you now experiencing violent protests in your own city, take note on what worked here.
My city is a wreck, and it grieves me. Going out to help clean up today with my 14 and 12 year old kids. I think we'll have a lot to talk about.
