I am sure that will be helpful as long as they actually let them work. I have some retired medical specialist friends who have been waiting for an opportunity to actually work....

Once retired and on the civilian side, certifications and licenses become an issue. I can work anywhere federally on my Texas license but once I retire, I will need a license for any state I work in. For off duty employment, I have to get licensed or certified in every state and it is a royal pain. I do both nursing and EMS and as much as they like to push national certifications or compact states, reality is they are not.

How is it that all these people, with these specific skill sets, were not already serving their local communities?
