I had always considered grunts to be the best/worst at this stuff, until I started to do rescue work and got around EMT's, especially Wilderness EMT's and First Response Personnel. Didn't take long to realize that you can't be too soft hearted and do this stuff. The two phrases uttered repeatedly in this group is if you are going to be stupid, you have to be tough, and It's going to suck to be you.

Sometimes there are no easy MEDEVACs...
I remember limping with a thumb-sized 1 1/2" hole in the back of my calf from a stick.
My PSG cheered me up by telling me, "At least its 8Ks downhill to the LZ."
