Interesting take on one of the 29th Foot's drummers. The photo depicts him in the field musick's reversed color coat with a musician's bearskin cap, in accordance with the 1768 Royal Clothing Warrant. I recall reading somewhere that the 29th Foot's black drummers were a gift from a Royal Navy admiral to his brother, who was the proprietary (i.e., he owned it) Colonel of the regiment. As the article noted, black field musicks continued to be a tradition of the 29th Foot into the 19th century.
