I am not certain military training is the answer. We are so risk adverse that we rarely push the envelope in training and a lot of times when we encounter risky or stressful situations, it is the real deal. I fly for fun and out in the desert at night, it is all instrument. The FAA does not see it that way and with my VFR license, I can gl push my comfort factor all that I want. They day I fly into a cloud, I am probably ready. Military does not train like this and I believe it hurts us.
