Aloha Chip,
I met a "Spook" once. He spoke five languages fluently and could "get by" in about five more. I wondered if his life was as exciting as the movies make it out to be. He laughed.
"Kevin, I spent three months at a time on a sophisticated Radio set up on a Fishing Boat off the coast of Russia in the Bering Sea...in Winter! I listened to Russian Radio Stations, and heard our Rock and Roll played very badly, and quite loud...for eight hours a day. Not once did I get a Martini, or a girl. I did get sea sick several times."
So I guess the Life of a "Spook" is scary - cause if you get caught there is "plausible deniability" as my friend said. But no 007 stuff. Darn.

PO1 Kevin Dougherty
One of my clients was a Nuke Spook ... at least that is my assumption. He was a special weapons type, and spent a lot of time in other countries doing things he could not talk about. He was slowly dying of radiation related complications. I asked him once how he got exposed, he said, "Let's just say other nations safety standards were not up to ours." I know he spoke Russian fluently and drew my own conclusions.

PO1 Kevin Dougherty - SGT Kevin Hughes Yeah Mostly Boring but Occasionally it does have it's "Highlights" so to Speak. You do get to play a wicked game of Chicken sometimes. Nuke Spook, (DIRSUP) is what I think You're talking about and Yeah they're not going to tell you much. I was Mother Hen for DIRSUP Missions while at CINCPACFLT.
