Paradise lost: residents flee Eden as Australia fires race towards them

I read the fires are so large they have a life of their own and create their own weather. The super hot gases precludes any rain as the clouds are dried up, and lightening from the storms start more fire. State and federal governments are bitching at each other about responsibility and probably funding.
