The Disappearing Y Chromosome

Yikes!!! I turn 70 tomorrow. Am I part of the 43.6%

That's truly fascinating. The Y chromosome was larger earlier in evolution and has gotten smaller and more specifically linked to sexual characteristics. Since it carries genetics for reproduction as you age the likelihood is less that you will so it makes sense for that chromosome to go missing if any of them do.
