MacArthur thought he was right and it didn’t work out well for him. And he was considered a national hero. Couldn’t read the entire article, but if this is true, better have retirement plans. I’m sure CNN or MSNBC will hire them as contributors. Actually, they should be charged under the UCMJ just as an enlisted that disobeys a direct order. They need to refresh the oath they took.

SGT (Join to see) - So, it sounds like, on one hand, the CinC wants people to take his tweets seriously. On the other, the White House aides don't... so... should we just take a wild guess at which opinion holds more weight?

MAJ Bryan Zeski - I certainly know my opinion, and what most rational people might think, also.
To be fair, though, the above quote, while seemingly rational and level-headed, is from Sebastian Gorka. (No longer in the Administration). If you’re not familiar with him, I’d recommend looking him up. He’s about 3 degrees wackier than Steve Bannon. Which is what makes such a rational point of view so unexpected.

SGT (Join to see) - Right, so... why would we take his opinion over what CinC said? Therefore, Tweets should be orders and policy, right?

MAJ Bryan Zeski - hey, a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while, right? Even crazy folks like Gorka can say something intelligent from time to time. To answer clearly, though. No, tweets alone should not be considered orders and policy.

If they were, it would be the official policy of the United States that not an inch of border wall would be built until Mexico paid for it. Instead, the military is somehow now paying for a wall.

Tweets are just tweets.

MSgt Michael Bischoff That's the question of the day, I think. CAN Tweets - or public social media - BE direct orders? That would make things... interesting.

What’s worse is this idea that a president should always impose his will in legitimate UCMJ proceedings. From saying in a tweet he’ll consider pardoning the individual before court martial proceedings are conclued to pardoning serious war crimes and undermining laws of warfare conduct in the process So sad.
