So Im thinking hard about this. Maybe a little too hard. LOL. I was married at 19 (the first time). I had already been in the AF 18 months by that time and my ex-husband and I went through basic and tech school together, as a matter of fact, we signed up at the MEPS together and also flew to Lackland together, we didnt get married until after we went to our first duty stations (me: England, UK and he: SJAFB NC). I came back mid-tour, got married, went back to Europe and when I got back to the states, we realized we didnt like each other enough to be married and live in the same house. For that reason, I decided to live with the 2nd husband before I married him, however, that one ended after 11 years, LOL maybe Im too hard on them. In any event, I think its about the person/people involved in the relationship. I know people in their 30s that dated upwards of 5 years prior to marrying only to divorce within 18 months because one spouse was military and the other wanted to stay home with their family instead of going with their spouses to a different state or country. Some people cant handle the military and I often tell young people when marrying someone not in the military, make sure they can handle the life, because even as a spouse they serve and they are your support system, which they cant be if they are not with you.
