Pentagon chief to ask Trump not to intervene in war crimes cases: report

The president is the commander and chief of the armed forces. He is he top dog in the org chart. The fact that some might view his involvement as an intervention is a part of the problem. Also, the military court marshal process is not really doing a great job.

I thought he had already restored the Chief's rank. And if the Pentagon didn't railroad people this wouldn't be necessary.

I think Trump wants little victories.
