SGT (Join to see), I’ve read the book twice, and I’ve seen the numerous cinematic iterations as well.
I’ve always liked the title of the book and it comes from the second to last paragraph of the book, which reads with most purposeful irony,
“He fell in October, 1918, on a day that was so quiet and still on the whole front, that the army report confined itself to the single sentence: All quiet on the Western Front.”

I have taught the novel many times in high school. The 1930 film is excellent and was an Academy Award winning film. Many war movies since have used those techniques in film making including Saving Private Ryan. LTC Stephen C. SGT Robert Pryor SCPO Morris Ramsey
