The Philippines is a mess. It allowed the imperial designs of China to its islands and coastal areas while the US is helping the country to fight insurgents in the Southern islands.

When I think about growing up in the PI, I have ambivalent feelings. Growing up there were my glory years. My friends and I played football, soccer, and wrestled. My father took me to explore the PI, at times it was breath taking as we explored jungles and various uninhabited islands. We were allowed to go to bars at 14, and had a motorcycle and car by 16. However, I have nothing to go back too. There is no AFB and all my friends are spread out in the US. This makes me somewhat sad.
