So getting our guys out of the way of a major shooting war is bad?
When did Progressives and the Democrats become the warmongers?

CPT Lawrence CableThey (Dems) have not become the warmongers sir. To the contrary, they're just trying to own up to our responsibilities to our friends and allies.

SSG Robert Mark Odom - I disagree. The Democrats are bigger war mongers than the old line Republicans from the Cold War era. Bill Clinton bombed Iraq about every 7 days, changed the mission in Somolia that ended up in the Black Hawk Down incident, and intervened in the Balkans, where the West supported they guys with the best Press agent. Obama, the Drone King, may have pulled us out of Irag, which of course allowed ISIS to thrive, but expanded our Middle East involvement into Syria, Yemen, Libya, not to mention some of the expanding missions in sub Sahara Africa, which is one of the few places in the world that is more dicked up than the Middle East. It's not very peaceful to be so willing to bomb your neighbors.
The smartest thing Trump has done is fire Bolton. I hope this is a sign we are going to back away for the endless conflicts that often have little to do with our national security,

They're going to massacre the Kurds, then move arab refugees into the areas they occupy, just like they did in Idlib Province. This is nothing short of green-lighting the ethnic cleansing of one of our closest allies in the area, the Kurds.

Thanks for the read General Burnham. How concerned were you when Obama pulled out of Iraq and allowed a caliphate to form and to murder tens of thousands or innocent people?

Cpl Jeff N. - As someone who lost friends over there, I was very concerned. I still can't get over how people automatically assume I'm a liberal because I refuse to drink whatever koolaid the rest of you have. It was wrong when Obama pulled out of Iraq like he did, and this is wrong too. For a man who seems to hate everything Obama ever did, Trump sure likes to take pages right out his notebook.

Many of us lost friends over there. That does not make our opinion any more valid or correct. When Trump put boots on the ground in Syria to go after the Caliphate the left gnashed teeth on rock crying and moaning that this was the wrong thing to do and would embroil us in another foreign conflict. Trump said when the caliphate was destroyed we were coming out. You can argue about whether you think the caliphate is destroyed or not but it has been annihilated on the battlefield.

We have been in the region for 18 years. Turkey is a NATO ally and frankly if the Kurds attacked Turkey, by treaty, we would be obligated to side with Turkey. This is how "foreign policy experts" do things. It is a mess because diplomats and politicians make it so. Perhaps we should toss Turkey out of NATO. What do you think the lefts reaction to Trump suggesting that would be?

I have believed and thought the way I have long before Trump came along. There is no Kool-Aid for me. I believe what I believe because I read and study history, policy and world events. Rand Paul is about the only "libertarian" of any sort in Congress. He fully supports the departure.

The correct approach would be for Congress to declare war on Syria and green light the president to use all necessary force there to expel (further) any ISIS forces etc. Remember though, Syria is a Russian (former Soviet) ally. So there is that to deal with too. How long do we need special forces on the ground (that is all that is there) to support the Kurds? The Kurds have to fight or work toward peace with their neighbors too. This is not really our fight.
