This program has been in the pilot stage for a while now but it’s now rolling out across the rest of the Army over the next couple of months. It seems like a combination of tuition assistance and the COOL program. You can get up to $4000 per year towards credentialing, rather than college courses like the tuition assistance program pays for. It also pays for “pay for all necessary books, supplies, and associated materials required for an approved training course and/or exam”. Degrees look nice on your office wall, but these credentials can really boost your marketability and make you stand out when you put up your boots for good. I’ve been in the Army for 18 or so years now and It took me way too long to realize that the Army is going to take a lot out of you, so you might as well take a little something with you for yourself on the way out the door.

CPT (Join to see) That sounds like a great program. Not everyone is college material, why should they waste time arriving at that conclusion? Guard and Reserve Soldiers actively participating in only a few states? CA certainly would not support anything that did not produce immediate revenue!

I agree 100%. I wonder if they’ll find a way to give promotion points for these for those on the enlisted side. Tuition assistance is offered on the reserve and Guard side so I would imagine this will be as well eventually. This program is probably even more valuable for those folks since they’re actively fighting through the civilian job market.

CPT (Join to see) I just got the email on this the other day. They said by the end of the year or early next year this should be fully implemented across the army, for Regular Army, Guard, and Reserves.
